Kintaro Ramen – My 1,2,3s of Ramen

Famous for their broths rich in animal fat, always expect a line up at Kintaro on denman. With so many happy and loyal customers, I can understand why they have a sign telling people not to block the entire side walk. Having been around for almost a decade, Kintaro has been ever so reliable and consistent. That’s why I always end up coming here even though there are so many Ramen shops near by. This is of the first authentic ramen shops in open in Vancouver and allows you to choose the richness of animal fat in your broth and meat; light, medium or rich, lean, medium or fat. The rich soups are so rich in fat that the bowls are covered with grease. For 2 people without drinks, the bill was ~$18.00 without tip. Continue reading

Tropika, Aberdeen – Malaysian & Thai cuisine

I like going to Tropika because they usually have food that doesn’t disappoint. It’s not the best but it’s not bad either. I’ve been here at least 30 times in the past 10 years so I apologize for the lack of enthusiasm. But, that just goes to show that they’ve been reliable, especially for being around for more than ten years. Continue reading

Section (3) – My comfort foods

I have a long term relationship with Section (3) restaurant and lounge. Probably because I first ate here about 8 years ago and the simple dishes I fell in love with have more or less stayed the same! I’ve shared so many good memories here: My 18th & 19th Birthday, girls night outs, four other of my friend’s birthday dinners have all been celebrated here as well. The other great thing is that their prices are fairly cheap and they have daily specials ($10.00 pasta days are my fave!). The bill for 3 people who all ordered drinks came out to be around $12.00 per person. I have to warn you though, the service is usually on the inattentive side but you just need to go out of your way to wave down the waiter. I have to admit that I’ve gotten used to the mediocre service because this place has a really relaxed hipster vibe. I would be thrown off if the waitress came to our table every 5 minutes to check up on us. Continue reading

Cheesecake Factory at Ceasars Palace

This Cheesecake factory is located in the depths of the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. There are two floors and a patio looking out at a giant fish tank.

Once again, I was fully satisfied with my dinner at Cheesecake Factory. When I say fully satisfied, I mean there were four of us (girls) and we couldn’t finish 3 appetizers and 1 entree. Therefore we didn’t get to enjoy an American sized sliced of red velvet cheesecake post-dinner. For more food, check out my post on Cheesecake Factory Seattle. Continue reading

Judas Goat in Gastown’s Blood Alley

Small plates, simple dishes, tiny joint, lots of drinks: A Spanish/MediterraneanĀ  Izakya. Hidden in the heart of gas town in Blood Alley, this Spanish drinks & eats joint is great for happy hour snacks after work. There’s also a great view of the back of a crack house where homeless people hang out. I guess that’s why the plates are so small.. if it were any bigger, it would be ironic and cruel for the hungry.
