JAL in flight meal

So this was the meal I received on my flight from Japan to Hong Kong via JAL(business).

They presented 3 courses all on one tray: foie gras, scallops and duck breast appetizer, salad, fish, and pumpkin pudding. They had a heated plate under my entree to keep it warm which I appreciated. Afterwards you could choose between a chocolate or vanilla Hagendaz. The only part of my meal I really enjoyed was the appetizer. As a tiny asian girl from Canada, I have to say that the portions are a little small. On Cathay Pacific, they really fed us well and presented each course separately on plates.

All in all, it was mediocre.

Edokko sushi edonoya – Kanda, Tokyo

1 word: foodgasm. Japan truly has the best sushi in the world. The pictures speak for themselves… Their sea urchin tasted a little sweeter than the ones in vancouver and the portion was so big they gave you a spoon. You can order any kind of sushi you want aburi or regular style. You order directly from the chefs while sitting at the sushi bar and they put it on your plate right after they make it. Their aburi sushis were either lightly salted or had some ikura (salmon eggs) on it. The aburi was delicious and natural tasting.. I liked that they didn’t overwhelm the sashimi with too much sauce and only used salt.

Crazy Crepes – Akihabara, Tokyo

I love japanese-style crepes and Crazy crepes really hit the spot! I ordered the banana and cream crepe and it was delish!

This take away shop is located right on the busy streets of Akihabara.

Gindaco Takoyakis- Shibuya, Tokyo

If you’ve been to Tokyo, you would understand how overwhelming the amount of street vendors can be! This was the first meal I had right after I landed. It had a great location right in the center of Shibuya (one of the busiest districts in Tokyo)! This vendor  made their takoyakis extremely hot n’ fresh! It really was better than any takoyaki i’ve had in Canada. The texture was evenly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and the octopus tentacle in each ball was a generous size! I can’t read Japanese so I had no idea which one I ordered but it was yummy!
